Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What age is the Play Village suitable for? The Play Village is designed for children of all ages who enjoy playing. Admission is charged for children who can walk independently. For example, an 8-year-old who enjoys playing will have a great time, especially if accompanied by a younger sibling. However, a 6-year-old who has outgrown role play might not find it as engaging. Understanding your children’s interests and preferences is crucial.

My child is not walking yet. Do I need to pay? Non-walking siblings are admitted free when accompanied by a paying child. The village is best suited for children who are confident on their feet.

Do I need to book online? Yes, we highly recommend booking online in advance to secure your spot, particularly during busy periods like school holidays and weekends when we often reach full capacity. Occasionally, we may have to close if no bookings are made. Informing us via phone or message about your visit plans can prevent an unnecessary trip.

Can I bring a group? We welcome groups and schools on weekdays. For group bookings, please refer to our dedicated group booking page. If your group comprises 10 or more individuals, please email us at millerswoodplay@howsamsmill.co.uk, and we will be pleased to offer you a 10% discount on your tickets.

Do you provide refunds? Tickets are only valid for the date and time of purchase. Refunds cannot be issued in case of cancellation or non-attendance. Although tickets are non-refundable, they can be exchanged for another play session subject to availability.

Can I bring my own food and drink? We prefer all food and drink in the Play Village to be purchased from our kiosk. We offer a varied selection of drinks and snacks. There is an outdoor area outside the Play Village where you are welcome to enjoy your own picnic.

How many adults can accompany a child? All adults are welcome free of charge! You may bring as many adults as you like to accompany a child.

Is the Play Village suitable for my SEND child? The Play Village is suitable for children with SEND. We have had the pleasure of welcoming many neurodiverse children who have thoroughly enjoyed their time playing in the village. The outdoor environment seems to have a calming effect, allowing them to engage freely with their surroundings.

To ensure a comfortable experience for all children, we limit the number of participants in each session. This not only allows for a more personalized experience but also supports neurodiverse children in feeling more at ease.

For those who may prefer a quieter session, please drop us a direct message. We are more than happy to accommodate and locate quieter sessions.

Please note the ground in certain areas of the Play Village may be uneven, which may not be suitable for children who are not confident walkers.
